Natural Winton Matrix Boulder Opal — Sterling Silver Pendant

An 11-carat natural Winton matrix boulder opal from Queensland, Australia, set entirely by hand in sterling silver.
This unusual Australian opal carries the earthy browns and creams of its natural ironstone matrix, with a beautiful flash of opal color appearing as the light moves across the stone. Rather than overpowering its natural landscape, I designed the silverwork to become part of it.
The hand-fabricated asymmetrical sterling backplate features flowing botanical stamping and organic texture, while a slender sweep of silver follows the stone’s edge. The reverse carries its own hand-stamped design, making the back nearly as much fun to discover as the front.
Finished with a silver-tone chain and handmade clasp.
